From the Secret Diaries of William Byrd, 1709:

"It does not matter whether you want the flourish performed upon the
billiard table, or upon the spinet, or upon the writing-desk in the
morning room, my dear paragon of perfection. The flourish I will bestow
upon you as your petticoats flip up over your head in your graceful
recline upon the trendy furniture of our Home will give you the greatest
refreshment and joyous repose of spirit.

And if afterwards, you should desire to eat of the flesh of the gentle
doe, then haunch of roast venison shall be yours.

And if you should desire to hear Dr. Tillotson's sermons
in Latin, no problem. Latin they will be. I can also read them in Greek.
Both dead languages will be on tap, anywhere, anytime you, my angel,
require post-flourishing entertainment."
